I bought this on the basis of: 1) lots of outputs, both old and new, 2) Multi-region/region-free. So far its living up to my expectations, given the price versus the performance. It is after all, an inexpensive Chinese generic, and I expected that when I got it. It tests good with my Region 2 DVDs, and the one BD I own. Some surprises: the remotes play/pause/stop buttons are way down in the obscure small-button "record" area of the remote (a common VCR design, since it does not record, Im not liking the design of this at all, its most important buttons are hardest to find). Two, again not a surprise with this type equipment, on-screen messages do not always match the remote. For example, "Press <Enter> to play from the beginning or <Return> to resume from here": There is no <Enter key>, anywhere. <OK> does not seem to work. No biggie, Ill figure it out eventually. Something is always lost in translation. The last test is how long it will last. My recently purchased Philips BDP3406 lasted about 1 year, then broke, making it not worth the investment (for a couple hundred extra, I could have bought a real player, like a Denon, that would have lasted 5-10 years). And the Philips remote was even worse than this one. Oh, the Philips tray was one millimeter too shallow, causing optical disks to frequently get jammed between the tray and the top of its drawer. This iVid has not given me that problem, so far.

I wanted a blu-ray player that simply did a good job playing media. I did not want any of the extraneous wifi; my television provides me with all of the connectivity that I need. I will say that I had to return the first one that shipped, as it would not play regular DVDs. It was my first experience with Amazons return process, and I have to say it was smooth, effortless, and completely painless. That said, the replacement model is a very fine piece of electronics. It takes a few minutes to set up, but once thats done, youre ready to go. All you need to do is load the disk and the unit does the rest. Press "play" and youre in business. The picture is incredible. Theres no sifting through menus, and no other nonsense to dance around. It does what you want it to do: play media disks. I would definitely purchase another one from this company.

Works good, looks nice, only two issues where shipping got delayed by a day and the video cables it came with really cheap composite cables when it can use component cables and HDMI cables. I had a HDMI cable I could use and like I said the product works good and looks fine. I can see sending the composite cables with a DVD player but I would expect atleast component cables to come with a Blu Ray player otherwise why by a Blu Ray player where the discs are more expensive then DVDs if the video is the same quality due to the limits of the supplied cable. And honestly I would have preferred no video cables to be sent with it rather then composite cables since now thats just one more thing to lay about gathering dust probably never to be used unless I really feel like watching something on VHS that never got released on any type of disc. With that said, it does exactly as the description says, it plays any region disc with no issues, and yeah there is not much else to say. If your looking for a Multi Region Blu Ray player this one definitly works, if your just looking for a Blu Ray player and dont watch movies imported in from other countries and dont have a need for multi region you can probably get a higher quality one for the same price or the same quality one for cheaper if you are not getting multi region. In either case if you pick this up make sure to get yourself a HDMI or component cable as well depending on what your TV (or in my case computer moniter) is capable of having plugged in since it only comes with composite and if your going to be using composite you may as well get DVDs much cheaper then Blu Ray since with composite you wont notice a difference.

Well, add me to the list of delighted customers. At first I ordered a name brand player, but turns out is wasnt really multi-region capable. So, I took a chance on this one, with the only downside being no Wi-Fi. Oh, happy day! What a nice player. An instruction sheet explained how to quickly change Blu-Ray region. I was up and playing a PAL region 2 Blu-Ray on my NTSC TV in no time. The menu system is nice, the remote has lots of buttons (albeit some in strange positions) and it functions just like something from a major brand. Good selection of analog and digital connections on the back, too. Id purchase again.

Around 2017 I ordered this particular Blu-ray region free player. It stop reading the DVDs I would place in. So I purchased another one and it’s doing the same thing This is an absolute disgrace! Very hesitated to try for a third time. Some of these region free players can run very costly. But I just might take a chance and buy it again just to see if I’ll get a good one the third time. As you can see my Blu-ray DVD collection is super huge!

Pros: Arrived on time and fully intact. Region change is easy to set up if you read the instructions. Plays Blurays flawlessly after set up. Region settings can be changed at any time and as many times as need be. Cons: My device, though the same hardware-wise, is of a different brand (just seems odd). Relatively large compared to other Bluray players. The disk drive is noticeably loud while it reads and plays movies. I received the player on time, and in one piece. The box and device are branded as iCom instead of iVid; however the device is the exact same as what is marketed, the BD780 model. The box was not sealed with tape, so I assume that it is in fact a post factory upgrade. Inside the box is the player, safely held in place with Styrofoam, the remote controller, batteries for the remote controller, AV cables (but NO HDMI cable), the user manual, and the instructions to change the region of the player. The instruction list steps to change the region of the bluray player. First you go into the set up menu of the player, then you punch in a four-digit code. When you punch in the code, there is no box or GUI anywhere that shows the input of the code. Basically, the code input is invisible. But if you enter the 4 numbers correctly, a region change menu pops up where you can easily change the region of the player. Once you change it, it remains that region until you change it again. I need the player for region B blurays, so I only needed to change it once. All in all, the region control is easy to set up, and the player is very quick. The player itself is kind of large compared to most other Bluray players Ive seen. It is unfortunate that it does not come packaged with an HDMI cable because Blurays ought to be seen in HD, not standard AV. But I had a spare HDMI cable, so I did not have to buy another. Lastly, my region B Blurays play flawlessly on the player, and they look and sound great. However, the player is pretty loud while it reads discs. With a good sound system, its hardly noticeable, but at low volumes, the constant loud hum of the disk drive is kind of annoying.

I had an older multi-region Toshiba SD-590KA2 that was starting to get flaky so I was looking for another multi-region replacement. The price was reasonable and in addition I get BluRay playing capability (although I dont have any BluRay disks to test that capability at this point.) The new ICOM seems to deliver a better quality picture with the HDMI cable capability vs. the old L-R-Video cable of the Toshiba. Additionally, the Toshiba always seemed to take an extraordinary long time to boot a disk after loading it -- although perhaps this is a bit of "the watching and waiting for water to boil" syndrome. Nonetheless, the ICOM player loads much faster and there doesnt seem to be any difference in what the disk region code is. Ive had this unit for a couple of weeks and so far Im very happy with it.

Ive been using the BD780 on an almost daily basis for the past two and a half years, and its doing a fantastic job! I paid $140 for it back then, and its been worth every penny. One of the selling points of this player for me was the RCA outputs, which allowed me to hook it up to my old TV, which doesnt have HDMI inputs. I may not be able to take advantage of its full HD capabilities, but the player does everything I require from it, playing Blu-rays, DVDs, CDs, and even VCDs from all over the world. Ive played DVDs from Regions 1, 2, 3, and 4 and Blu-rays from Regions A and B without any problems. I was able to play Arrow Blu-rays from the U.K., marked as Region B only, even without switching from Region A, but when I finally had to switch regions to play a Region B 20th Century Fox Blu-ray from Germany, the enclosed instructions made it easy.

A true Multizone Bluray player! I purchased this player as I live in New Zealand and cant play Blurays outside Region B as ther are no multi-regional players for Bluray available here. This player is exactly what I was looking for and not only plays dvds from anywhere in the world but will play absolutely and region Bluray disc as well :) Thats thanks to the factory code settings supplied in the box that allows you to switch between regions as many times as you like. Another nice feature is that it plays data discs too, unlike my PS3. This player really is the best value for money as far as multi-regional players go, plays smoothly and is simply to use. If theres one thing that could improve this player - it would be the inclusion of an HDMI cable as I had to buy seperately but thats just a minor inconvenience. I highly recommend this player to anyone purchasing Blurays from overseas :)

I did my homework and found this item had good marks and a more than reasonable price. It handles all regions of DVDs AND is Blu Ray to boot! I never heard of the iVid brand, but the quality is good and its easy to set up for any region. Why bother with any other player? Now, I can order DVDs from anywhere and see them in crisp, Blu Ray mode. If this is what they mean by "global marketing," Ill take it. Talk about freedom!
