Basically, this is the monitor for those who really liked Acers G257HU, but want VESA mounting. This has everything I wanted: good response time, excellent IPS quality considering the price, a thin bezel and mount support. Like the Acer alternative, it has excellent out-of-the-box calibration, using default Windows and GPU color settings, colors pop and are vibrant. Its slightly smaller versus the Acer counterpart, however. Pros: -VESA Mounting -Quality IPS Display at 2560x1440 -Good Thin Bezel, glossy-free design on the front (where it matters most). Cons: -Glossy back. Seems a bit odd, especially considering the VESA mount, although there appears to be rubber "bumpers" to prevent scratches. -Power connects via external power brick, and neither the monitor nor the brick use standard AWG Universal power plug on the back. (I never set up the stand, cant go for or against it) Issues with DPI Scaling: This is something people forget to consider when going above 1080p in a sub-27" sized monitor. 1440p at 24" is amazing, pixel density wise. However, due to Windows 10 (as of Fall 2016 updates, anyways) DPI scaling is still hit or miss, especially if youre not using the same resolution/monitor for your secondary display, like I am. Some work arounds, while great for the new monitor, also ballon the UI elements on my 1080p screen. I however do not fault the manufacturer because its all software issues at this point, specifically with Windows 10. Its surprising considering the rise of 4k gaming that Microsoft has not provided a rock solid DPI scaling solution. Even if you are a single monitor user, DPI scaling can still cause blurriness, as those who have used 15" 1080p laptops will know. Its that same issue but in the desktop-side of things. Issues with Gaming: Again, citing Microsofts OS for the blame, a lot of games see the scaled DPI as a 1080p resolution when attempting to run in windowed/borderless settings. Only a few new games that I can tell can intelligently see whats actually going on. For example, Diablo III cannot correctly run at 1440p in a window with DPI scaling on. However, Blizzards newest title Overwatch thankfully can. With DPI set to 125%, which is the suggested percentage, most games in a window will think youre playing on a 1080p display. Basically, youre gonna have to play most games in fullscreen to use the full resolution. This issue is due to Windows DPI scaling, NOT the monitor itself. Its simply a victim of circumstances. So, minus Windows poor DPI scaling solutions, this is an easy buy. I picked mine up for $230 pre-tax, which is the lowest this has ever been according to camelcamelcamel.com. I wouldnt pay over $255/whatever the Acer G257HU sells for, and would pick the Acer over this IF you do not care about VESA mounting.

Nice and light. Can also handle 85hz at 1440p. I also got a nice DisplayPort cable rated for the 1.4 spec. I was able to get it up to 85hz at 1440p. I tried 75 at first, and I was surprised it worked. Then I went to 80, no problem. Then 90. No go. Dialed it back to 85hz. Worked. Colors are nice and I already have a hard time dealing with 1080p screens. I attached the photos on the monitor at 75, 80, and 85 hz. I am loving it.

I guess this is the first review for this beautiful monitor, as it was released recently (VX2778 27" 256x1440). Im not a gamer, but Im using it for 3D apps at 60Hz. Im comparing it to an old DELL 2407 (24" 1920x1200). -------- Pros: + Bright, great contrast, beautiful colors (havent measured the accuracy), crisp. + 27" at WQHD gives more real estate compared to 1920x1200 without shrinking the fonts too much. DPI is 109 compared to 94. + Small bezel. Although its advertised as "Frameless Bezel" it does have a bezel. There is a 1mm metallic bezel around the screen, and its the only one you see when the monitor is off. When its turned on, there is an additional 6mm black frame around the image, so the total frame is about 7mm. Still quite small. Bottom frame is about 1.8cm. + Real buttons, easy to navigate menu, many options to choose from: game mode, web mode, etc. + No dead / bright pixel. I didnt notice any IPS light bleed. + The on/off light can be turned off (menu option). + No problem going to sleep. + It has a vesa connector. + My old DELL had shadows issues (with anything moving), the Viewsonic has no noticeable shadows (but then, Im not a gamer). Everything is smooth. -------- Cons: - Comes with just one cable: display port - mini display port. - No DVI input (all new graphic cards have a display port, so if you have a new hardware its ok): it has a display port, mini display port and HDMI. - I had lots of problems connecting it. Maybe it was because I connected it through HDMI. The native resolution was not recognized. The maximum was just 2048x1152, and it was blurry. I updated both the monitor driver (from Viewsonics site) and graphic (from nvidia), but it didnt work. I had to go in the nvidia control panel, and add a custom resolution of 2560x1440. Then it worked fine. - Stand is nice and good, but is a little wobbly, less sturdy than my old DELL (that was also much heavier). - Height not adjustable. Bottom of the screen is at 9.5 cm from the desk. Speakers are a good idea, but the sound is just ok. ---- Edit: there is one stuck pixel on a corner. Not that visible... Oh well.

Overall very nice. Pro: * Very clear & sharp with good color saturation, even off axis * VESA 100xx00mm screw holes on back * Very thin bezel * Tool-less stand assembly * Bright, good viewing angles * Anti-glare screen * Low lag, high refresh rate for gaming mode (seems to be only at lower than native resolution tho) * lightweight Con -- in general not a big deal: * No VGA or DVI ports, only DP, mini DP and HDMI * DP to MiniDP cable supplied has pin 20 connected, against the DP spec. This can cause problems like power back-feed from the display into the PC, and cause windows to freeze on a black screen when booting. * Super shiny black plastic parts, which are easy to scratch and collect fingerprints * Supplied stand only tilts, no height or rotation adjustments. Stand also protrudes forward under monitor, taking up desk space in front of monitor Notes: * 24" at 2560x1440 is pretty small dpi -- consider 27" version if you have the $$, the desk space or if you are seated further away from it. * External power supply with 3 pin AC cord * You might need to go into the main menu and enable DisplayPort v1.1 mode to work with some graphics cards. * By default it has some sort of "movie/game" mode enabled, which made text look bad -- disable it and its good. * It has speakers, which I guess you could use if you HAD to.

I was looking for a decently-priced 1440p monitor to replace my aging 1080p Viewsonics. I have a dual display, so I was looking for a good looking monitor with a thin bezel, as well. I use the monitor for work, photos and movies, but also for gaming. I have found this monitor to provide very nice color range, and I have been quite impressed with its gaming performance, even if this isnt a gaming monitor per se. I realize that a higher refresh rate would be nice (its a 60 hz), but it does the job just fine, with no ghosting, tearing or issues. I play a variety of games, from FPS to slower strategy games, and it handles them all just fine. As always, make sure your GPU is up to the task of driving a 1440p monitor, otherwise youll have to dial down settings. My Geforce 1070 has no issues displaying Overwatch on max settings, and its a clear step up from 1080p. Overall, a very nice looking monitor that does the job, for a very good price.

Pixels per inch is where its at! I bought the 24" 1440 model for one reason: Pixel density. Im not a gamer. For me its all about legible screen fonts for easy reading. And pixels per inch is where its at. The higher the pixel density, the clearer the type looks. Fonts on a larger monitor with a lower density wont look as clear as a smaller one with a higher number of pixels per inch. The density on the 24" model (2560 x 1440 resolution) is a little over 120 pixels per inch (ppi). A Kindle Paperwhite pixel density is 300 ppi. So if this monitor is a bit over twice the distance from you as a Kindle Paperwhite, the density and clarity will look about the same. There is one thing I do want to mention: brightness. Wow this thing is bright. In the early days of LCD and LED monitors, brightness and color accuracy were issues. The brightness issue has certainly been solved, and maybe too well. I have mine set on just "5" on the on-board brightness setting. Occasionally I have dialed it down to "0" and its still readable.

Strengths: - No touch screen gimmicks. Just your old-fashioned press buttons. - Speakers are literally invisible. I have no idea where theyre placed but theyre in there somewhere. - No ghosting. - Easy and quick to setup; instructions are straight forward, no additional tools necessary, and it only takes 10 minutes to built. - Controls for calibration are simple. - 1 mini display port cable included. - Panel on mount can be tilted/leaned forward/backward. Just careful as the mount is stiff. - Great for gaming; pixels are so small that enabling Anti-Aliasing will be pointless and the difference is barely noticeable. Morevoer, colors are rich and lively. Doom, ArmA III, Metro: Last Light, and Far Cry 4 look amazing. Weaknesses: - Panel is fragile and light ; be extra careful when handling the panel. Its so light that a moderate gust of wind will bring it down. - Little back-light bleeding, but hardly noticeable when gaming or watching videos. Other comments: Been using it for two months and so far no problems have appeared. Calibration is crucial for maximum performance. Moreover, Brightness is set to 100% by factory default and its insanely bright, I had to reduce it to 35%. If youre on a budget, this monitor wont disappoint.

This monitor is amazing for the price. Its cheaper than other 1440p monitors, but quality isnt sacrificed like most other cheaper monitors you see on the market. To start, the picture quality is amazing. There were no dead/ frozen pixels, screen burn in, or ghosting, so thats something you shouldnt worry about. The 2560x1440 resolution is a great compromise between 1080p and 4k for gaming. You dont lose many FPS from bumping up the resolution (while I dont know the exact number of FPS lost, I would say maybe around 2-5 FPS). Coming from a Sceptre 1080p monitor, I can say that this monitors design quality is great. The monitor is plastic, but doesnt feel cheap. The stand is adjustable in two ways- height and tilt. The stand is easily adjusted and doesnt require much force to adjust. The bezels are amazingly small- something that is relatively uncommon among PC monitors. The only problem that I have come across isnt a problem with the monitor, but with windows. Windows automatically scales the screen to 125% due to the high resolution, but certain UI elements can appear blurry because of the scaling. Again, this isnt a problem with the monitor (this happens on almost every monitor from every brand that has a resolution above 1080p). The only way to fix it is to put the scaling down to 100%. The scaling isnt a reason to stray away from this monitor whatsoever. This is an amazing monitor for such a low price, and if you are looking for a nice hi-resolution monitor for gaming or just regular use, you should buy this one.

Im giving it 4 stars because it developed a vertical red line one pixel wide after nearly 30 days. It was easily replaced ( thank you Amazon) and the next one had a light line about 3 from the left and a swath maybe 2" wide maybe 1 shade lighter than the screen. right out of the box. I suspect it may have been a restocked unit as it did not come with all the stickers like the first on had on the frame. Third time was the charm, this one works great so far. There were tons of good reviews so I was surprised I had 2 defective units. Its very clear, sharp, etc. I got it to connect to my macBook Pro. Just set your screen option to mac and it works great. You can close the lid to your macBook and everything shows on the new monitor9must have laptop connected to power, vs battery. What I di was I got a magic mouse and a mac keyboard so working off the 13" laptop looks and feels just like my 27" iMac

Ive had this monitor for a few weeks now and Im very impressed with it. Its replacing my old monitor, a Samsung 245BW. Ive set that up as a second monitor. Having the two next to each other makes the ViewSonic stand out. The colors pop and are crisp and clean on the ViewSonic. My only issues. The HDMI cable included. Ive never seen one like it. It had the HDMI connection on one end and a different connection at the other end making it useless to me. However, that doesnt mean it will be useless to everyone else. In my case though, I had to steal the cable I was using from my old DVD player until I could order another one. The other issue is the stand. The height isnt adjustable. This means most people will have to look down at it and this can be bad for your neck if you spend hours a day on the computer, as I do. I recommend a stand for it. Attached is photo that shows difference in height adjustment between the ViewSonic and the Samsung. Aside from the cable and the lack of height adjustment this is the best monitor Ive ever had. I plan on ordering another when my Samsung finally completely gives out. ViewSonic VX2478-SMHD 24" IPS 1440p Frameless LED Monitor HDMI, DisplayPort
