I love Amazon. I hate this monitor and will be returning it... again. Purchased the monitor a week ago, came on time (yay, Amazon!). One lousy pixel stuck on yellow/white in the center of the monitor. Not buying a brand new monitor with a bad pixel (bad, Asus, but, hey, stuff happens. maybe just a fluke). Initiated a return and it arrived today before I even returned the old monitor (yay Amazon!). Hooked up, and ANOTHER bad pixel in the upper right quadrant. Now, thats blatantly bad Asus. Now I have to return this, cancel my SquareTrade warranty, and look elsewhere for a good deal on a 24" monitor. My sons building his first PC and this is a bit frustrating. I "may" try one more time, but 3 strikes and youre out!

These monitors are great. I’ve had one for close to 4 years now and it’s still a spectacular monitor for the money, in fact it’s so good I’ve just bought a second one and am contemplating buying a couple more for another computer. I’ve use high end Dell monitors that cost much more than these and I often find myself wishing I was using these instead. They’re HD 1080p resolution, have an ascetically pleasing thin gloss black frame, have standard VESA mounting, and have VGA, HDMI and DVI inputs. For the majority of users that’s everything you need and these frequently have rebates that bring the pricing to unbeatable levels (although the rebates does take months to arrive). I also bought my first monitor used from Amazon Warehouse Deals at a good discount and it arrived in perfect condition with merely an opened box (was probably just a return) so even if you’re skeptical of used electronics, it might be worth giving it a try. The only thing that is subpar about these monitors is the stock stand. It’s actually terrible. It squeaks like crazy if you shift the monitor at all, has no height adjustment and only minimal tilt adjustment. However, this is far from a deal killer as this monitor has a VESA mount which means that any cheap monitor mount on Amazon will fit it and be a huge improvement over the stock stand. You can even get a nice dual mount if you’ll be running multiple screens. After 4 years this is still just as good a deal as when I first bought it, the specs are competitive with newer screens, and it doesn’t seem dated. I highly recommend these screens; just make sure to purchase an aftermarket VESA mount at the same time. Even with that added expense, these are still an excellent deal compared to similar monitors. Pros: Excellent 1080p resolution, good color saturation, fast 2ms response time, easy to read matte screen, cheap price, nice looking and thin, VESA mount, lots of input options Cons: cheap and flimsy stock stand

Physical construction: pretty decent imo, the frame is more stylish than it looks in the pictures as it is modernly curved with a gloss finish. Performance: I used an HDMI cable, and endlessly fiddled with the display settings, but ultimately the colors on the screen would always be off in some way. Either the colors would be way too vibrant, or the contrast would be extremely poor. And no matter what, the blacks were TERRIBLE, they never got any better than being noticeably gray. Price: At the time of purchase, I purchased the 23.6" screen for $90 after a $20 mail in rebate. VERDICT: It is definitely a good price for the amount of screen real estate you get, but I was just extremely disappointed by the colors the monitor put out. For something touting HD and a great contrast ratio, the picture was just never right. Ultimately I returned it and was more satisfied paying more money for an IPS display.

I have 2 of these and probably going to order a 3rd. I didnt order them at the exact same time as others are blaming the new design to cause a "yellow tint". I had this "yellow tint" and washed color issue due to the cables, graphics card, and KVM that I use so I fixed the issue via software. For those who read the negative reviews about this yellow tint... This is more than likely caused by the cables, graphics card, or other device in between. I confirmed it by simply switching the cables... A very simple debugging task that takes seconds to perform rather than simply blaming the manufacturer... Im writing this review to clear up some of the confusion that I had read with people who didnt do this simple debugging task and blame the monitor and go through the whole replacement process. Im trying to educate and inform those who are looking to buy this monitor that the specific "yellow tint" is a cable / port issue which can be corrected by software. If you are going to convert say HDMI to VGA, make sure that the reviews are solid. I had ordered a new adapter and it cause more of a yellow tint. Plugged the other adapter back in and it was back to normal. Also I had another video card that by default didnt have this issue. It was a cheapo fanless Geforce 210 that had DVI and VGA. My new GTX 750 Ti caused the HDMI + VGA to have a "yellow tint" which was easy to correct.

The monitor is fine, has a bright clear display and connects via hdmi. I use it for word processing and other text applications connected to my laptop when Im working from home. Works great for my purpose. I have an earlier version of the same model. Rebate process is awful. You have to go to a website, enter codes, search your product, select your product, enter your info, decline spam emails, answer some survey questions, submit the claim, print out the sheet, sign the sheet, locate one from 7 different shipping stickers from the product box & cut it out with a box cutter, xacto or some other blade, print out the amazon receipt, and mail all if it in within 30 days of buying the monitor. At some point supposedly they will send me a $20 visa card for my efforts. Summary: If the price is competitive with other monitors WITHOUT the rebate, go for it. If there is a competing monitor for about the same price, Id buy that one instead. At this point, most panels are probably coming from the same factory so differences between brands is likely to be small. Update December 2017: I just got an email from Asus, my rebate is possibly being mailed soon 6 months after buying the monitor.

I got this gem for 89$ after a 20$ rebate from Asus. How can you go wrong with 24 inches Asus for 89$??!! Came yesterday and I immediately hooked it up. Packaging - The monitor in Asus box is very well packaged, Amazon put it in a MUCH bigger box with stuffings and made it very secure for shipping. -Assembly -Took all of 30 seconds to pull out the round-ish plate desktop stand and attach to the neck stand already part of the monitor. To my surprise, the plate had a nice size bolt in it with a flat blade screwdriver slot..but...there is a small swivel handle attached to the bolt, lift it up and you simply use it to turn the bolt and attach plate to neck, then fold swivel back down and its good to go! All of 30 seconds, incredibly nice touch for such an inexpensive monitor. Picture - Not what I expected here, there are 4 or 5 preset you get by pushing thru one button. For displaying windows it looks perfect on any setting, absolutely no issues there but then I put in a DVD movie and also tested on Amazon Prime and Netflix. I dont know who came up with these values for each but they are all terrible, 3 of them make the monitor look all washed out like a VHS tape from late 70s and the other 2, Scenery and Theater I think add some color but they are over contrast and saturated, yet though after watching a movie for a bit on the Scenery it didnt seem so bad. But they really do stink. I suggest you do what I did, go thru the menu system and write down the color - contrast.- brightness settings for each, find one thats close to what you can stomach and then adjust to your taste. After that I was happy. The instructions are terrible, just a description of the specific function for each and then their functions for operating the menu system. I say they are terrible because they did only that , and there is no explanation for terminology or what other things meant in the menu, I no newbie, Ill look on the web site for better explanation of "slpendid" or "splendor" some auto control you can mess with I think? Not a real big hit though. Features & Stuff - I was very surprised to see that with the power cable a VGA and DVI cable was included. There is no HDMI cable though, I wasnt expecting any and the VGA and DVI is a big plus for a budget monitor. (henforce implies VGA, DVI HDMI inputs). The stand besides having the nifty swivel screw in device will also allow you to till it up and down a good amount and it stays in place nicely, not like other junk monitors that just slump down and stay there. VESA mounts, a shocker at this level as other name brand pricier monitors do not include this. There is also a head phone jack which is supper nice feature, its audio from HDMI. Thats great because all speakers on monitors really stink, just read any review of one that has them, so rather than drive up cost and waste money on features you can use, Asus puts it to a high quality head phone interface the you can then use your headphones or send a wired or wireless signal to your GOOD speakers. For control there are 5 buttons on lower right underneath, for power, contrast, brightness, menu and something else I cant remember, and then a function for menu control. The menu is quite extensive allows you alot of control and you can also adjust audio from there, a place not easy to regularly get to so set just once and then use your source or your speakers to adjust. If you are driving speakers do not set this to the highest level, set it to mid at most, as the higher you go the more distortion you will get, this is true and same concept of amp and pre-amp let the amp do the bulk of work. 2ms is very fast, and unexpected again for this proce point, but Im not a gamer but it will be a noticeable feature in action movies which I watch alot. Other Thoughts - So despite my comments on the pre-sets I love this monitor ! 24 inches, tons of room for all the windows I have open for engineering and a big screen to watch movies and your 16:9 pictures and home videos will look like never before on these. A tilt-able stand - vesa mount supports, 3 video ports - audio and Asus quality all for 89$ Its a no brainer, even the 109$ is more than worth it. I will probably get another. One word of reviewers who complain about picture quality - spend more money and get a better monitor, being so picky about video quality here is like buying a 4 cylinder 110hp engine and complaining that you cant keep up with a 754 hp Dodge Hellcat. My eyes are crappy anyway so there is no need to buy a high end monitor, even if you have good eyes you will love this monitor.

the screen is mediocre for what i paid LISTEN---- NOTE HERE, IF YOU ARE BUYING THIS BECAUSE OF THE REBATE PRICE. STOP. Asus does not Honor your rebate worth crud, they will decline you and tell you that you are missing this and that, such as you send in all info , then they tell you to resubmit the UPC you JUST SENT THEM , ask yourself.. how in the world do i resend something that i sent you you guys? hmm.. yeah if your looking to pay the price without rebate.. (which defeats the purpose) then go ahead. otherwise. asus does not honor thier rebate, thier rebate center doesnt have a single human soul for you to talk to. its all automated. worst service for such good quality parts. smh

The Asus VS247H-P is a good budget monitor for console or pc gamers looking to get a monitor with crisp images, great contrast and depth in shadows and highlights, as well as a very quick response time. The monitor soon falls behind when you want to do anything more than quick performance. The color depth on the panel I received was subpar for a TN monitor at this price range, and for video and photo editing I began to have issues distinguishing colors and getting them where I needed. On the pannel I received I had non-linear saturation performance across all colors, and it was especially bad in yellows and violets. The yellows and violets also seemed to have the worst hue accuracy; I often found the yellows to quickly tint green or orange as I changed the hue settings even slightly. The colors on this pannel are vibrant and the great contrast ratio of the pannel adds to the performance, but I would not recommend this monitor to someone looking to any type of editing work. On the the other hand I can see who Asus is aiming this monitor at; the gamer who wants fast performance at a very low cost. This monitor offers a blistering response time of 2ms and I had no issues with ghosting or artifacts at any frame rate. The dynamic range of the monitor is impressive for the price and I was able to see detail in highlights and shadows with no issues. This is the selling point of the monitor in my opinion, and it does it very well. Pros of the Asus VS247H-P: - Affordable for a 23.6" pannel (its not really 24") - Bright, even backlight - Impressive contrast ratio and dynamic range - Good maximum saturation levels - Impressive response time (2ms) - Easy to navigate menus, good calibration ability - Lightweight, sturdy frame - Easy to wall mount Cons of the Asus VS247H-P: - Below average color performance for a TN pannel - Major issues with hue and saturation accuracy - Below average viewing angles for a TN pannel - Connections on back are perpendicular to the back, making it difficult to mount flush to a wall - The stand is a bit wobbly, could be improved One thing to know is that one monitor may not perform identically to another due to the nature of pannel manufacturing and design, so I may have ended up with a pannel that performs less than average. Even so, the color performance and especially accuracy on the Asus VS247H-P is not up to par with the rest of the monitors performance. Where this monitor shines is its performance for media like gaming and video. I would recommend this monitor to the average gamer looking to get good performance for their money. I would not recommend this monitor for the editor looking to get serious performance. Is it worth the price? Maybe, but if you want to get even more bang for the buck then I would recommend the very similar ASUS VS239H-P which is an IPS pannel only .6" smaller diagonally and offers the same contrast ratio, clarity, far better color performance across the chart, and an IPS pannel for outstanding color accuracy and viewing angles.

No problems so far. Has an incredibly flimsy stand, so I deducted a star for that. But everything else is performing as expected. Using the DVI port to connect to my computer. Response times are great, resolution is great. Wish the brightness would go lower, as its very bright even on the lowest setting - I also could not find an eye-saver setting which I like to use. The border is gloss black and not matte black, which can be a bit distracting and looks kind of tacky. But for a monitor under $100, its great. Would recommend.

I bought this monitor as a secondary for my home office setup since I was tired of squinting at a dinky laptop screen. I had another 24" ASUS monitor that I love and wanted a dual monitor setup with the same size monitors. My old ASUS had been discontinued so I thought this one would be similar. Unfortunately, the difference between them couldnt be more apparent. While the screen size is the same, the border is much wider on the new one which makes it seem larger. When I first plugged it in and had the computer recognize the dual screen, it was obvious that the colors were way off. The yellow tint that other reviewers have complained about was there. I used the monitors menu settings to get them as close as possible but there is so much bleed-through from the backlight that the new one is still brighter and the blacks are not as deep as the older one. I did notice the next day that the yellow tint had vanished so I dont know what that was all about. Im not a perfectionist so Im not going to go through the trouble of boxing the thing up and sending it back just because the blacks arent a true black. It does the job and its much better than staring at a tiny laptop monitor with my aging eyes.
