My biggest fear was shooting in broad daylight. I was intimated by shadows and knew nothing about lighting. I didnt have the time given the ideal of my sessions, to set up off camera flash. So I invested in a couple products. The middle right and bottom left are both created with ONLY this product. The bottom right is created with this product AND a flash diffuser made by the same company. I highly recommend this product to someone in the same position as me. Its half the price of other speedlites and works flawlessly.

I purchased this speedlight because I had an event coming up that I was the only photographer for. I have never used one of these and didn’t even get to try it at home before the night of the event. I did watch a couple YouTube videos just to get the concept down. I can definitively say this is easy to use and well worth the money. It definitely upped my photo game and I’m extremely happy with it. No one should be using built in flash ever, this is what you need. Pros: Built in bounce card (which I believe is standard, but it works well for what it is) 360 degree angles Lasted as long as I needed it (2hrs and still had battery left) Easy to use: on/off button, mode button and a plus/minus to adjust brightness. Cons: *i only have one gripe* Takes 4 AA batteries, I wish it was rechargeable or at least took a small battery I could remove and charge. Also, there’s no way of knowing how much battery you have left, as there’s no indicator light/levels. *possible cons* I’m an intermediate photographer, I know what I’m doing and take great photos, but I’m not a professional and my equipment is entry level. The videos I watched on YouTube showed speedlights that had more settings and control over the light, with a small lcd digital display etc. so if that’s something you need, this may not be for you. However, if you’ve never used one, I absolutely recommend this.

I have been a professional wedding photographer for 7 years. I have owned the nikon sb600, sb700 and sb900. After the sb600 flash tube broke and repair was almost $200 I got the sb900. Hate every minute with the sb900 (esp for the price). I use on and off camera flash and after my sb900 died at a wedding I looked into a non nikon option. I found this flash. After reading reviews and seeing the price I ordered 2. I have shot around 6 weddings so far using this flash both on and off camera. I am zoo happy with this flash I will never buy another nikon. Recycle time is quick (if not on the most powerful setting). Battery life is pretty good. Produces overall very even nice powerful light. I can say I honestly see no difference between the power of this flash versus the sb600 and sb700. Sb900 was more powerful but the flash is a pain in the butt to overall and I never need that much power. For the price and quality I am very happy and plan on buying 2 more for my off camera flash systems. If you can and know how to shoot in manual and how to control your flash, this flash is for you. If you need the camera and flash to think for you, maybe this is not the best option. Light is light and although it is not a fancy name it does the job. I am interested to see how long these will last me :)

Taking into consideration the price, this product is out of this world, AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! This gave me such perfect lighting, it was easy to install and the quality was beyond the price of the item. The only downside I can give is that if you want to take multiple pictures in a row, occasionaly the flash wont go off. This may be the case for other external flashes as well though. Either way, I cant complain and I would definitely recommend this to anyone!

So I picked this flash up and IMMEDIATELY kicked myself for having waited this long. I was always thinking to myself, "flash photography, another week of watching YouTube tutorials and learning new settings." Which is partially true, but honestly I enjoy learning new things (and watching quality tutorials online). But, it is way less intimidating than I imagined it would be even though my camera does not have the through-the-lens feature and I need to set the flashs power manually (which takes no time at all and is probably better to learn anyway). The attached picture was a quick, "Wait! Let me get a picture of him sleeping on you" capture. I aimed the flash up and away, at an angle so that the flash would bounce off the wall and back at the dads nose. Its really that easy! Highly recommend buying this flash, right after you learn how to work your camera. I wish I would have purchased this years ago!!

First, I am an amateur, I take photos for fun. I bought canon 580, 430 and ST-E2 long time ago, and recently consider to buy two more flash for background and hair light, however, I do not want throw several hundreds bucks in, and this is the perfect solution. and I am considering buy two more (other models) to retire expensive OEM flash. I saw lots of people ask whether this is compatible with perticular models from major brands of cameras, and the simple answer is "Yes", since major brand cameras have uniformed hot shoe, and this flash has only one pin, once compatible with the brand, fits for all common models. Pros: Build quality is very good, and it does not look like $30 product. Easy operate; if put on camera top, use "M" mode; if off camera, triggered by other flash manually set to "S1" mode; and if triggered by other camera through the lens (ETTL), set to "S2" mode. Optical slave trigger is very sensitive with no physical block. ( I have not tested it outdoor, since I mainly used it for indoor) Recycle time is good, full power take 3-4 sec; 1/2 power about 1 sec; the rest take no wait time. Cons: so far, has no complain on it. think about it is $30 flash, what else you may ask for? I only have it for a couple of weeks now, might update later on on using experience.

I got one of these and the wireless triggers, after a day of shooting portraits I bought another flash. Works great with my Panasonic GH4, Canon 80d, and Canon 5d3. For portraits, weddings, and products these things are amazing for the price. Insane value compared to the hundreds of dollars for other flashes. At full power these things are pretty bright, not as bright as some strobes Ive used, but bright. Doubled up (see photo) they are throw a lot of light around, great when using a lot of diffusion. Though this is not necessary for normal shoots. In fact, I dont usually do this. Just thought the photo looked cool so I uploaded it. Battery life is so good I dont worry about it. (I use high cap rechargeables.) Overall build quality is good, hot shoe mount is solid enough. They are made of hardy plastic. I dropped one on my foot from about 10 feet up, and while it hurt my foot, the flash was fine. Note these are fully manual so you kind of have to know what youre doing, but its easy enough to pick up. Using fully manual camera, lenses, and flashes, teaches you a lot about photography. The only real CON is that the wireless triggers dont work if they are within about 2 feet from the transmitter. Which is a pain if you want the flash off camera, but still quite close. For example I was I found if I covered the transmitter with my hand it would fire, but without covering it it wouldnt. Strange. But thats really a knock on the transmitter, the flash works great. If youre just getting into flashes, Id recommend starting here. For $35, its a steal.

If i had more than 5 stars i would give it. This manual flash is all you need for both professional and beginners. Learn how to use manual flash and you will have excellent results. This flash unit is the best one Ive owned so far and is far less than what i paid for my 2 other flashes. This one is a definate keeper and the reviews are real about it buy it with confidence, go out and buy more than one like Im getting ready to do.

Absolutely love this light! Not sure how I ever shot a wedding without it! The wedding in the pictures, the reception lighting was actually super dark and yellow, but with this flash it made all the difference! The couple loved their photos!
