As an amateur photographer, I could never really justify buying an original Canon Speedlite. But the need was there for a flash and I finally bought this unit based on the positive reviews. QC issues are not always the fault of the manufacturer as any product that needs to be shipped thousands of miles may have damage. If the product works as advertised, then it deserves a positive review because it was us, the consumer that agreed to its price in the first place. Consumers cannot expect a product to work better than advertised, no matter the price. This product performed as it is supposed to. It is a little thirsty with its power usage necessitating a frequent change in batteries, but I buy my batteries at Daiso for $1.50 instead of $8 Duracells, so that may be it. No complaints at all with this flash so if you are on the fence or just want to have an external flash for your DSLR even though you dont use it professionally, get this flash.

This is a very nice speedlite! Its E-TTL 2 compatible. I have been using it in fully automatic mode and it gets the job done beautifully. Its very simple and easy to use in that mode. I have experimented with continuous shooting with flash and the flash works very well in that mode. Once or twice it wouldnt turn on and I simply opened and firmly closed the battery compartment to fix the situation with no further problem. It can focus in the dark with the built in infrared emitter focus assist...my T6i cannot focus in near total darkness on its own. As for Flash Exposure Bracketing, like AEB but the flash is doing the f-stop flash exposure adjustments rather than the camera setting the camera exposures, I get mixed results on that. Sometimes it "seems" as though it actually works and other times its obvious it didnt. When I set FEB it doesnt actually show up in the settings that I actually made a flash setting on FEB, even though sometimes it "seems" like the 3 flashes are correctly set for -1, 0, +1 EV exposures. Im not done experimenting in this area so these results are inconclusive at this time. Continuous flash also works quit well giving a stroboscopic effect to continuous shots. The built in clear plastic light diffusion does a decent job of softening the light on the subject. I like the auto zoom feature which adjusts as you zoom the camera lens in and out. It helps keep the most light where it is most needed and also gives the speedlite a greater flash to subject distance it can be effectively used. It comes with a simple black nylon bag with drawstring. I dont use it. I bought a 3 pack of neoprene lens carrying pouches. The middle size pouch is for my lens, the smaller for my Movo external mic, the larger size fits this speedlite perfectly. Looking at the bottom of the hot shoe, all the pins are present and in the correct configuration for the Rebel T6i. I like the great cost-to-quality ratio...low cost-high quality. Love the low price compared to an actual Canon speedlite. Overall I really like this flash and am very pleased with it, glad I got it because it has been doing a great job for me. No real problems that Ive experienced with it so far. I would definitely recommend this item to anyone looking for a good low cost speedlite to add to their photo accessories.

Im not a professional photographer. I have recently picked up photography as a hobby but mainly to catch priceless family moments. I was looking for an alternative to the pop up flash on the Canon T6i and came across this inexpensive yet highly reviewed flash. this thing works amazing for me. the sheer lighting alone has helped my pictures come out 10x better than with the pop up flash. sturdy build quality, inexpensive compared to brand named ones and gets the job done. very happy with this purchase.

Thoroughly impressive flash all around. I really value the lcd interface screen, its easy to read and manage the settings and has a full legible, read out. Can be charged through an external port or by batteries. Multi mode shooting for continuous strobe flashing for capturing series of movements so you never miss a beat. Built for angling with the rotating bulb head and swivel base. Turns on the hot shoe mount for better direction and controlling flow of light. Quick reaction time with my camera as well as recycling and recharging. The flash coverage is widely ranged so its not just ideal for close ups. Comes at an unbelievable price! This flash is something to brag about.

Just buy one...or two. (You’re going to want at least two) If you don’t know anything about flash photography, speedlights, strobes, or whatever you want to call them, go over to “YouTube University,” like I did last week and start learning. They are a game changer. Get some 9’ lightstands, slip on diffuser hoods, and remote triggers, while you’re at it. I took the picture above this morning. This was my first session using speedlights. I’m sold.

This flash unit at a fraction of the price preforms as well as the Canon and Metz units that sell for hundreds of dollars more. This $50 flash is amazing, and the TTL works for my Canon 5D II. I have had the unit now for several months, have used it on several jobs, and was so impressed, I bought a second unit. Time will tell if the unit lasts as long as the Canon and Metz units, but at $50, you cant go wrong. And the build quality is very good.

What a good flash. The hot shoe has a metal base, (my Canon strobe does not). Years ago you had to pay extra for an off market metal hot shoe. The power and more quality of light is great. Like most, unit has a built in bounce card for those softer flash photos. The head swivels 180 degrees back and forth AND 360 around, learn how to use the bounce and watch your photos improve. For the price purchase two and take it up a notch. I worked for a major photography company and used these out in the field.

Amazing value for the price. I want to add to other comments by saying that the built in focus assist light has proven a godsend for me. DJs like to keep rooms dark. I just photographed a 150 person party in a very dark room and my late model Canon DSLR had no problem focusing thanks to the red grid emitted by this flash. Great results and no more resorting to manual scale focus in the dark!

All the features of the flash are great. My problem is with the construction. I bought this flash to take on a trip. When I received it, I tested it out and everything was working great. I packed up my camera bag, and a couple weeks later Im on my trip. Upon arriving at my destination, I discovered that the flash wasnt working. At first I thought it was the batteries. I replaced them, but still no luck. The flash will not test fire, and my camera doesnt recognize it in the hot shoe. Hot shoe still works with other gear, so I know it isnt a camera issue. I know the batteries are good because the display screen light will illuminate green, and I can see a small digital line on the screen. Aside from that, nothing. I didnt drop it or otherwise mistreat it. The only time I actually got to use it was the first time I tested it. From there it went straight into my padded camera pack, so it was very safely stored. I dont think it is related to my issue, but I did notice that the plastic piece that slides into place and snaps to cover the battery compartment is bulging out and will not seat correctly like it did when I first got it. It still shows that it is getting power, so I think this problem is unrelated to my overall issue, and just speaks to the quality of the product. I have included photos to show the battery door that isnt flush, the flash display screen, and the flash itself that has absolutely no signs of wear of misuse. I probably just got a bad unit, but Im bummed that I wasnt able to use this on my trip and that I wasted $50. Like I said, I do love the features of the flash, so I rated it 2 stars for the bad unit. Would likely have given it 5 if it had continued to work.

I have spent hundreds of dollars on camera-brand flashes in the past. This cheap as hell one kicks ass (and it should, from its size). Compared to my past flashes, this one is huge. Forget trying to understand the instructions that come with it, all printed in .5 point type. I even took pics of the pages with my iPhone, then enlarged them to read them. I plan on buying two more to use with slaves.
