After my $300 Diva ring light stopped working I decided to purchase this because its cheaper and does the same thing. I will tell you from experience that this is essentially the same ring light as the $300 Diva brand. The only difference is the name on the packaging. The build quality is the same, the light output is the same, and even the light bulb itself can be traced back to the same manufacture (both Neewer and Diva purchase their bulbs from the same company). Let me explain why this light is essential for perfect selfies and portraits. Its all about light and color balance! Light is not always what it seems. Our eyes are very forgiving, so when we move from place to place everything seems normal in terms of color. So, for example, when moving from a bright daylight environment to a room lit by a candle all that will appear to change, to the naked eye, is the light level. Yet record these two situations using a camera and the first will have a blue hue and the latter will come out with a heavy orange cast (nobody likes orange skin in pictures). This is because our brain can quickly adjust to the changes, making white appear white, whereas our cameras are balanced for one particular color and anything that deviates from this will produce a color cast. The color variation is referred to as the color temperature and is measured in degrees Kelvin. The scale ranges from the flame of a candle at around 1900K to deep blue sky at around 10,000k as illustrated by the diagram Ive included. The light source is listed next to the degrees in Kelvin, both set against the color of the light at each level. You will notice that the color next to the Average noon daylight (5500K) is white (which is what ring lights produce). This is the color temperature that cameras are balanced to which means that when shooting using a 5500K white balance, the photograph will record white objects as white and all the colors in an image will appear natural. If you shoot in conditions that measure a higher temperature the photo will start to become bluer and shoot in conditions below the 5500 temperature and they will increase in orange. The colors here dont just relate to daylight conditions artificial light also introduces a color cast. With fluorescent lights this is often green and with tungsten lighting it will be yellow, while flash can be slightly blue. If you own a digital camera you may have read about the white balance control. Most digital cameras have an automatic color balance. This will look at a scene and if it thinks the color is too blue it compensates to make it natural by adding a red shift to the colors recorded. Likewise if it sees an orange scene it will increase the blue content. A 5500K ring light is perfect because not only does it produce a consistent color of light, but it surrounds your face with light and gives dimensions to your facial features. Have fun!

Excellent purchase for the price. After researching which light to buy first for my photo/video needs I decided to start with a ring light. I’m not a professional photographer/videographer but I needed better lighting for YouTube productions (hair and makeup tutorials as well as talks) and product photography. The Neewer Ring light was priced competitively and does a very good job for my needs. As I stated, this was my first light purchase/investment. I will buy a couple additional lights but it was an excellent choice for me. If you’re a first time investor in lighting for your projects or a professional looking to diversify your setup buy this light. It is professional quality and reasonably priced. (It was listed at $59.99 when I bought it.) Since this is only the light you will need to purchase additional items to complete your setup. These items include but may not be limited to: • Neewer 75"/6 Feet/190CM Photography Light Stands for Relfectors (This is the tripod stand that property fits this ring light.) •. Like many others I had similar experience with this Ring Light. I ordered it and it arrived very promptly. The packaging was fine I didnt see anything wrong with it and I wanted to start using it right away. So I took out the light and made sure everything looked fine which it did. I plugged it in and all was working fine. I was so happy so I turned it off. The next day I wanted to use it and I turned it on then 3 mins later it cut off! In my head Im like wtf so I turn it off and back on, Nothing! I let it rest a few mins and try again and still nothing. At this point Im worried its broken so I start inspecting it a little making sure the plug is pushed all the way in and that the light it placed inside the right how it should. Still nothing. So I start to request Amazon for an exchange and I started packing the ring light exactly how I got it for returning and then 30 mins later something tells me to try it one more time. Since Id have to wait quite a time for the exchange to happen. And to my disbelief it started working again. And now Ive had it a few days and I havent had any problems but I do have a feeling this will be happening once in a while which makes it inconvenient and unreliable. Also makes me nervous to travel with it :/ Fidgeting with it did help in having it come on so I think its probably the internal part of the ring light that had issues which isnt really accessible.

I purchased this last week and anxiously waited on its arrival. I received it Friday evening. I initially fell in love with it. It seemed like a perfect alternative to the more expensive ring lights. I pulled it out of its package, mounted it on my tripod, plugged it in and watched in amazement at how much light power it gave off. It really was perfect... Then, after a solid 5 mins...... the light went out on its own... I unplugged and replugged several times, even used a different outlet in case the one I was using was faulty but nope, still nothing... I turned it off and on multiple times, even played with the wires a little in case they might have been loose but still nothing... It went ON on its own on Saturday but then quickly turned off again. Im very disappointed. Needless to say, Ill be returning this item. FYI: I read through the comments and seen that this seems to happen to most of them. That sucks! Neewer, please find a solution to this problem otherwise, stop selling faulty products to customers and wasting their time.

Saved a lot buying this over the Diva Ring. This does the same and is much cheaper! I use it for beauty videos, and it really lights up my face so you can see what Im doing. I also use 2 white lights on a stand to light up the background.

I would give the product 5 stars but when I first turned the light on two sides were very dim and it was not bright as if the light was going to go out. I was super neevous because this was expensive. I hope it does not go out. Can I contact the seller about my concerns? Please help but overall I am satisfied with the product. I am just nervous three months or two months down the line.

Came back to edit my original review which I left in tact at the bottom of this one. Updated review: Fell in love with this light from the very first use, but I had only owned it for about eight months and the light began to flicker. I have to play with it to find the sweet spot just to get it to work which is a hassle when youre just needing to do your makeup and go. Sometimes the right spot cant be found and I have to do my makeup with out it, which is frustrating. After coming back and reading the reviews Im seeing that this is a common occurrence. To sum it up: its an amazing light, but only when it works. Original review: This light was recommended to me by a friend in the makeup industry over the Diva light. From the first day that I pulled it out of the box I knew I would never again do my makeup without it. Perfect for photography sessions, even did the photos for my daughters prom party outside in the dark and they turned out beautifully!

Its disgusting to know that you spend so much money on things like this and then it ends up not working. I watched so many reviews and everyone was like it works, its perfect then I got it, waited a long time for it also. Finally, put it on, and it came on for 2 seconds then never came back on again. I dont know what happened to it, I buy things on Amazon all the time and everything works but this light isnt even coming on. I dont think anyone should buy this light, it just seems like its all put on. Im so upset because I​ wanted it to work so much for my Youtube videos.

Dont buy it. Its waste of money. Its junk. I like this light in the beginning how bright it is. Now evertime I turn it on it doesnt come on right away. I have to wait few minutes for it to turn on. Sometimes it doesnt come on at all. Its not working for me. Id like return it back and get a different one. I do lash extensions and microblading and I rely on this lamp but its giving me problem everytime I turn it on. I even bought a new bulb for it cost me almost 40 dollars still doesnt work. Junk
