Very flexible flash is a small package. Some real benefits over the on camera flash on the X100F. 1. Can be used as a slave in conjunction with the on camera flash although not TTL in Slave mode. 2. When used on camera on the X100s it will raise the flash high enough that you wont get the half shadow if you are using the conversion lenses. 3. Has a diffuser for the wider conversion lens so it widens the coverage. 4. Easy to set the under exposure when using as a fill flash and also. 1. Very slow recycle times 2. No TTL when used as a slave with the on camera flash 3. Matches pins up with the sync cord (OCS-C3) from the Canon (or a VELLO brand) enabling TTL off camera when used as a single flash off camera.

Just got one of these little jewls, for use with my X100T. As mentioned, its all metal and quality all the way. Like the camera, the controls are simple and right on top. A little switch on the bottom to select slave, slave/preflash and on camera mount. An internal wide angle difuser is included if needed. Mine seems to turn on and off without any problem. The flash output seems to be about 3X what the camera flash does. Not a powerhouse bue suitable for indoor and limited outdoor photos. So far, very pleased.

Its small so dont expect much inside. For fill flash, which is why I bought it, it works well. I have an XT1 and the stock flash isnt powerful enough to fill more than one person a few feet from the camera. The charge time is ridiculously slow, I know its compact, but come on Fuji.... I bought the XT1 for its size, and I dont want a big flash on it, so this is better (not by much) than the stock flash. The price is stupid high too...

I have the EF-20 Fuiji flash for my x100 and XP1. It works OK most of the time, but is large and bulky. I ordered the EF-X20 not just because of size, but also because I thought it might offer better EV adjustment. I was pleasantly surprised that indeed TTL metered fill-flash appears to work much better with the EF-X20 compared to the EF-20. Of course the settings may be different for each lighting situation, but I have found that -2/3 EV exposure works well for most outdoor backlight subjects that need some fill-light. The internal diffuser is also a plus for use with the new 14mm lens. The flash takes AAA batteries, which seems like a pain as most other devices take AA, but they are required to keep the device small. I purchased a set of 4 AAA rechargeable batteries which work fine in my AA/AAA charger and I carry the extra 2 in my bag so I am never without a fresh battery. That said, I have never had to change the batteries in the field even with moderate flash use. Whether or not it is fair for Fuji to charge what they do for this flash is not for me to judge, but I would say that I think this unit is a significant improvement over the cheaper EF-20 and it is recommended if you can fit it into your budget.

Awesome and spectacular Fujifilm X10/X20 flash. It certainly can be used as slave flash - only under 2 modes of the camera dial: manual and auto modes under p and n modes of the flash. X mode of the flash can be use in any modes of the dial - given that the cameras "external flash" is activated or switched "on". There is a toggle that can be flipped to create bouncing flash effect to produce soft lighting that is crucial for portraits in low light settings or shadows of the subject when shooting portraits on a sunset setting. Needs 2 AAA batteries that contributes to lighter built and good power source for an average usage of flash. Test mode and on/off buttons are well built. Solid metallic built that fits the Fujifilm x series solid, metallic and retro designs. Continuous 15 shots require the flash to rest for 10 minutes - to maintain longer life expectancy of the flash. There is small square shoe mount for the flash that helps it to stand on its own when the flash is used as a slave flash. A little more expensive than the other flash types but it is worth the buy - mainly due to its small and solid metallic built, the soft lighting toggle, and slave flash features that makes your Fujifilm X10/X20 camera looks classy and savvy. If you are considering this flash, read more reviews and watch a few professionally made YouTube videos to help you make the decision. And I strongly recommend the customers to buy used or refurbished version in Amazon Warehouse Deals because it is cheaper unless if its Black Friday in November or Christmas in December. UPDATES: -

Love the quality and performance of this flash. I use it with my X70. I typically use it as a fill flash, set in TTL -⅔ or -1. helpful when I have on the hood or the WCL-X70 because the on-board flash creates shadows. Knocked a star off because it takes way too long to "warm up" from the off position. I like to shoot street candids and my first few shots have to go without flash as I wait for it to warm up. Also, when the X70 sleeps, the power of the flash shuts off so I again have to wait for it to "charge" up. Frustrating.

Its fantastic. Very slow to recharge. I really wish itd take different batteries.... AAA??? What takes AAA batteries anymore?? Id prefer a proprietary lithium ion rechargeable battery if itd mean the flash wouldnt take almost a full minute to start up. That aside, this flash is needed if Im using the wide converter, because the built-in flash will cast a shadow - a ridiculous design flaw.

Extremely long refresh - even with new batteries (not timed it, but with clients looking on, it seems about 30 seconds or more). Nothing impressive about it - buy a generic TTL or Auto flash... Or perhaps the less expensive, taller, tillable other Fuji (will be my next attempt). Not very wide even with the "wide angle" filter flipped on. Heavy vignetting. Ill probably sell mine on eBay, not usable for my line of work (technical photo illustrator).

Mounted on camera it illuminates the scene very well. In slave mode the flash always fired even when placed behind the camera. Downside in that mode is that you loose TTL. You may have to adjust the flash output and direction of the flash to expose properly. I added a Vello TTL-Off-Camera Flash Cord for Canon EOS - 3 (1 m). With this accessory you have TTL metering. On the downside, have a lot of spare batteries handy. Battery life is not that great. All in all Im happy with it.

I like the flash. It looked nice on my XT1, not too big. It has nice TTL and manual settings. It comes with a stand so it can be used off camera in slave mode. But the 5 second recycle time is unacceptable for me. So I returned it.
